Grand Weekend Event
Everyone is practicing for the upcoming competition, not to mention looking forward to Grandmaster’s Praying Mantis Form/Techniques clinic. November starts off BIG!
October Kung Fu
It’s starting….the studio is slowly changing into a haunted dojo. ohhhhh…there’s blood on the mirrors! Where did that come from? (or who did that come from????) October is always a fun month, as something new happens every day, which does require a bit more focus from our students! But what a fun way to learn that focus!
Terrific Kung Fu Tournament!
Our Portsmouth students did well in the NH Shaolin Olympics tournament held Saturday, September 13th at the Keene SDSS location. Several gold and silver medals were received in the following events: Defense Techniques, Forms, 2-Person Defense Techniques, and Sparring. Congratulations to all our Portsmouth students who competed! Time to start thinking about the November tournament in Connecticut!
Kung Fu Animal Forms
Kung Fu animal forms increase strength, balance, flexibility, stamina…..why wouldn’t you want to try them? Much more fun than lifting weights! Give us a call to schedule a free introductory lesson, and explore what the forms can do for you.
Women’s Self-Defense
Women helping women learn–it’s a great approach.
Learning self-defense skills takes practice, and a willingness to let go of inhibitions and “just do it”. That’s why having a friend (or two) take the Danger Awareness course with you makes it all the more interesting.
This course, over approximately 5 hours, teaches how to get out of various grabs, where to strike for the greatest effect, and the best techniques for getting away from an armed or unarmed attacker. Discussions of realistic scenarios versus television drama are also included, as well as tips on being aware of your surroundings. Call us to schedule your sessions today! Classes are flexible. We work hard to accommodate your schedule.
Kung Fu Learning
Learning about self-discipline, self-control, patience, respect, and honesty is all part of our program for children’s martial arts. We’re more than just physical skills! Understanding when, how, and even whether to use those skills are also important. We give simple life lessons, illustrating how good kung fu is part of everyday life.
Good Luck or Effective Technique?
The Praying Mantis has long been considered a symbol of good luck or good fortune. In the kung fu system, mantis techniques are quite effective at controlling an opponent, and forms based on mantis movements offer low stances and plenty of opportunity to test one’s strength and balance!
Recently this little fellow visited our studio. We’re happy to receive whatever good fortune may come of the visit!
Appreciation
It’s always great to hear that we make a beneficial impression on lives!
“Break” into a New Summer Routine
Kung Fu summer! Board-breaking, weapons training, animal-based forms! All cool new things to try this summer. Call us!
Strong Kung Fu Focus
As we often say to our students……It’s all about the stances. And, stances require good focus. If you want your little ones to improve their ability to focus on a task for longer than a few seconds, try Kung Fu!
