The course is usually taught in a minimum of two sessions, a week or so apart, to allow for repetition/review of the material. If needed, the course can be taught in shorter sessions over a longer time period. All sessions are offered outside the normal studio class schedule.
Generally taught on an individual basis, interested women are encouraged to have their friends or family join them in taking the course. This allows the ability to practice with a trusted partner. Discounts are offered in such cases.
Content includes effective kicking and striking techniques, targeting vital areas, getting away from grabs and what to do if on the ground. There is also a strong focus on situational awareness and understanding various danger scenarios (what to watch for). While not a substitute for regular ongoing training, the course offers a quick set of skills that can be put to immediate use for self-protection.
